Hi, it's me . . .
Hello, friends,
Last week, I broke my long radio silence to tell you that I’m launching Chapter Two.
Today, I want to remind you who I am—in case you’re reading this Substack newsletter and wondering why it’s in your email.
I’m Tawdra, and I write romance.
If you’re here, it’s likely you:
Read one or more of my books;
Signed up during a promotion;
Found me via Substack’s referral.
Either way, a brief reintroduction is in order, I think.
Eighteen years ago this summer, I began writing my first full-length novel. I have been writing all of my life, a storyteller as long as I can remember, but between school and marriage and kids and just LIFE, up until that point, I’d never actually completed a full book manuscript.
My first book was a young adult paranormal romance, though at the time I wouldn’t have known to call it that. I named it FEARLESS after Taylor Swift’s song of the same name, as well as after how I felt writing it.
I began shopping it around to agents, which was a whole thing—an entire process—so meanwhile, I wrote book 2 (BREATHLESS) and book 3 (RESTLESS).
Finally, in December 2011, I decided to indie publish my books, and that was the start of my career.
A few years later, I wrote what I expected to be a one-off contemporary romance (THE POSSE), but I loved it so much that I moved into that genre for the bulk of my career.
Between 2011 and 2025, I wrote and published over 150 books, including my two small-town romance series Love in a Small Town and The Crystal Cove Romances, my military romance series The Sexy Soldiers Series, my royal romance series The Anti-Cinderella Chronicles (and its sister series, the Anti-Cinderella World Romances), and my two football romance series Going Deep and Small Town Sizzle.
I segmented my paranormal books into a separate pen name, Tamara Kendall, and I did the same for my erotic romance books, which are published under the name Tessa Kent.
For a variety of reasons that don’t bear repeating, last autumn I removed all of my books from the Amazon sales platform.
The good news is that there are so many places where you CAN buy my books!
My very own direct-to-you store, Tawdra Kandle Books (the BEST way to find me!)
Libraries! Check yours frequently—my titles are always being updated there.
Coming soon—my books are returning to Apple Books!
In the coming weeks (and months, and years), I’ll have more to share with you about what’s happening next in Tawdra Land.
For now—thank you for being here. Thank you for staying (if you’ve been around a while). I hope you’ll continue to hang out with me because I’m incredibly excited about what’s coming up.
Until next time...
Remember that there’s always another chapter.
Keep believing in happily ever after.
Love,
Tawdra
PS Please DO scroll down a little to catch up on some important and immediate news! <3
Your summer needs some spice!
Want to load up your ereader with spicy romances? I have a bunch for you right here! Two of my books are included—and there are TONS more, so grab the ones that light your fire here.
This Time Next Year
Tomorrow I head out to East Peoria, Illinois, to attend Writers on the River, where I’ll be signing on Saturday, July 11th.
I’m SUPER proud and excited to be part of the associated charity anthology, This Time Next Year. You can get your copy (ebook or paperback) at Amazon now through July 31st—and this is such a great cause.
Plus, my latest football story is in there (Delay of Game). You’re going to love it.
