Welcome to Chapter Two
It's been a long time coming . . .
Dear Friend,
Fifteen years ago, I published a romance novel and hoped someone, somewhere, might fall in love with the characters the way I had.
I had no idea where that story would lead.
Since then, I’ve written more than 150 books, created towns I’d happily move into, introduced readers to football heroes, soldiers, royalty, dreamers, and survivors—and had the privilege of sharing thousands of happily-ever-afters.
Like every good story, though, this one has had plot twists.
Some chapters have been joyful.
Some have been unexpectedly difficult.
But one thing has never changed.
I still believe stories matter.
And I still believe love is worth writing about.
So this isn’t a beginning.
It isn’t even a restart.
It’s simply the moment the page turns.
Welcome to Chapter Two.
I’m so glad you’re here.
Where I’ve Been
I’ve been silent for the last few months because I’ve been taking stock of life, sitting back to really listen to my heart and drill down on my ultimate WHY.
I began writing books because I’ve always had stories to tell. Ask my sister, who was my first audience. Even as I slogged through school, then got busy with marriage and kids, I was always telling stories—only they were mostly for my own amusement.
When I published for the first time, it was because I knew I could share the characters who lived in my head with other people . . . and my dearest wish was that readers would get it. That they’d understand why Tasmin is guarded, why she falls so hard for Michael, why Nell is such a, um, witch.
When you did get it, when you loved the world of King, Florida (and beyond) as much as I do, that shared love ignited a flame in me that’s never gone away.
Back in 2011, I sat down and wrote a romance because I had a story to tell.
Not because I had an algorithm to satisfy.
Not because I had a platform.
Not because I had a marketing funnel.
Because I believed stories mattered.
That hasn’t changed.
So what changed?
It was me. Or maybe it was my way of looking at things.
The last year and a half has been a wild ride for me, personally, and for the world, too. We’ve had family health crises, a wedding, kids moving away, ups and downs . . . I needed some breathing room to look at where I am, what I do, and where I want to be.
That process began with digging out the weeds, determining what doesn’t work and has never worked for me, making room for what’s real and important to grow and blossom.
At the end of the day, I’ve finally figured out how to be an author publicly in a way that feels like me.
What comes next?
Well . . . let’s see. Stay tuned. I have the guide in front of me, I can see the next steps, and for the first time in many months (years?), I’m excited.
I hope you will be excited, too, and that you’ll come along on this journey.
Because every story deserves a Chapter Two.
Until next time...
Remember that there's always another chapter.
Keep believing in happily ever after.
Love,
Tawdra
